Is your washing machine not working?

The machine won’t start

Check the connection, door closure, delayed start and child lock settings. If using the machine trips the circuit breaker again, stop using it and contact a qualified professional.

Water enters slowly or not at all

Possible causes include a closed tap, a kinked hose or an inlet mesh blocked with debris or limescale deposits.

Only clean the mesh as described in your model’s manual. Disconnect the power and turn off the water before removing a hose. Don’t dismantle the valve or casing.

Water stays in the drum

Check for a kinked drain hose. A blocked pump filter may also be responsible. On many machines, it sits behind a cover at the lower front. Check your model’s manual for access and cleaning instructions.

Don’t open the filter straight after a hot wash. The water may be hot. Wait for it to cool first.

1. Switch off and unplug the machine, then turn off the water supply. Prepare a shallow tray and towels to catch any water.
2. Slowly drain the remaining water as directed by the manufacturer. Then slowly unscrew and remove the filter if your model allows it. Never force it open.
3. Remove lint, coins and other debris. Rinse the filter under running water, then refit and secure it according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

The door won’t open

After the cycle ends, allow a few minutes for the lock to release. Don’t open the door if water remains in the drum or the laundry is hot. Never force it. Follow your model’s instructions for safe draining.

Water is leaking out

Turn off the water if safely accessible, and don’t use the machine until it has been checked. Don’t touch a wet cable or socket. Only unplug it from a dry position with a dry, safe connection. Otherwise contact a professional.

An error code is showing

Codes depend on the brand and model. Have a photo of the display and model label ready for the technician. Use the manufacturer’s guidance rather than trying random resets.
